Welcome to the new financial year
What a year 2010 was! We received the results of the Henry Review and with the change in Prime Minister we have already seen the Governments initial response to some of these recommendations change. Despite the economic uncertainty of 2010 many of our clients businesses flourished and we would like to take the opportunity now to congratulate our clients on their fantastic results for the year!
And what a year 2011 is shaping up to be. Here at mta optima we are expecting many changes to the tax landscape with the state and federal elections ahead of us and further response from the Government on the Henry and Cooper reviews. In this newsletter we have highlighted the main outcomes of the Cooper review to do with superannuation reform. It is unlikely that the Government will proceed with any of these recommendations prior to the election but we will keep you all informed on what this means for your employee’s superannuation and personal self managed super funds.
Our newsletter also highlights the outcomes of the minimum wage review and an update on increased compliance activity on employments taxes such as fringe benefits tax, payroll tax, super guarantee, PAYG withholding and workers compensation to be aware of.
Here at mta optima we are already busy with 2010 financials and tax returns. Our tax questionnaires were sent earlier in the week to obtain your information. If you or your staff require any assistance in completing the questionnaires please do not hesitate to contact us. They do ask a lot of questions but to make sure we receive the best tax outcome for your business we need to know an awful lot.
We have also welcomed a new staff member to our team, Brendan Howard. Brendan joins us as a graduate from the University of Ballarat and he looks forward to meeting many of you over the coming year.
We would also like to welcome all of our new clients to mta optima, we look forward to getting to know you better and working together to achieve great outcomes for you and your business.
Finally, like most of Australia, here in the office we have been obsessed with Masterchef! We have shared in our newsletter the recipe for a chocolate ganache, lavender cream and raspberry tart that has taken our fancy. For those of you willing to take on this cooking challenge, enjoy!
