Matthew commenced with Pannell Kerr Forster in their Audit Division and moved to work with Peter Marriott in Ballarat as a Manager before entering partnership as Marriott & Tol in 1996. The firm was focussed primarily on superannuation but developed to being a general service firm over the six years until it dissolved in 2002. Mta optima was formed following the dissolution of the partnership.
Having developed a recognised expertise in business structuring and taxation along with business development and leadership consulting, Matthew is focussed heavily on developing the value-added services for mta optima and developing the team within the business. Matthew regularly presents on taxation (for the Taxation Institute) and leadership issues and has had numerous articles published on accounting firm management and leadership. As one of two Australian-based Fellows of the Verasage Institute (a global think-tank for professional-knowledge firms), Matthew is well connected to the leading thinkers in professional firm management globally.
Matthew has an extensive network of contacts through the professional services industries around Australia including accounting, legal, insurance and commercial sectors. This extends from major firms and corporates through to smaller, boutique operations. He is also member of the ICAA Tax Discussion Group #2.
